All about waterfalls in Rwanda

Water falls in Rwanda are part of the beautiful sceneries that form a great ground for tourism and safaris. Many visitors travelling from across the globe come to witness, view and take photographs and video footage of the falls and rapids that are available in some parts of Kigali and its environs.

During the early arrivals by the Europeans in Rwanda in the year 1894, many Germans came by the water falls and moved across to Tanzania. By this time Rwanda had been considered part of the German East Africa.

There are many major waterfalls in Rwanda that are mainly split into a number of rapids and others flowing through River Kagera. On the other hand, there are others that are less known by visitors and are located elsewhere. For instance, Rasumo falls. This stands among other numerous ones like, Amazi Isumo and Chutes Rasumo.

The Rasumo falls is the main water falls that is found on the Kagera River right on the border of Rwanda and Tanzania. This is a fall that carries with it a lot of history of the Rwanda people in regards to the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. It is at this water fall that many people running away from the hard hit areas passed through as dead bodies were clogged under the bridge.

Amazi Isumo is a lovely water fall that is located in one of the coolest places in Rwanda. They call it lonely planet. However, it is small and very powerful but very isolated.
Chutes Rasumo is like many others on Lake Kagera are small water falls that many people would like to call it a rapid fall. However, it is ecstatic and extends a romantic feeling.

Most of the places where these water falls are located are conserved and you will find a number of lodges and hotels that will serve you bed and breakfast accommodation services. This is amid other travel agencies that work on the whole process of tours and excursions.

There are a number of activities that are more than exciting as they are delightful. For instance, the most common one is mountain climbing and trekking which is highly booked especially on the mountains where there is the viewing of the gorillas.  It is also good to camp in one or two of the places as there are camping services that suites family and friends tours.

Apart from these activities, it is just lovely to stand and watch the falls as the waters hit the bottom with a consistent thunder that at some point you can hardly hear one another.
